Participants
Program participants appreciate the opportunity to come up with their own arrangements. They enjoy the experience working with their American partners and find the program most helpful to their professional career growth, in contributing to their employer, and their community.
One of our first participants, Ms. Matějková, stated in her final report: "The whole project and my stay at the John Marshall Law School I consider an amazing, enriching and energizing experience and the three months I have spent in the United States I consider an extra three months of my life."
Six aspiring young leaders applied to our program in 2011 submitting high quality proposals: four focused on healthcare, one on education and one on the environment; only one with focus on women health was selected.
In 2010 we nominated six applicants; four from the Czech and two from the Slovak Republic. For the first time we nominated two applicants in the environmental field. Three participants were in healthcare and one in education. Three participants exceeded a notional budget of $15,000 per participant and were asked to contribute either their own resources or their employer's. All three agreed and contributed a total of nearly $10,000, a clear sign to us of their intent.
